About

Dominant themes in my painting include surface, shape, texture, movement and balance. The interaction and repetition of shape and texture provide entry points with which to navigate the work. My technique involves a long process of layering and texturing the canvas with markings and various X forms. I paint with somewhat unconventional materials: house paint, ink, a foam brush and a putty knife. Cy Twombly, Lee Krasner and Robert Rauschenberg have all influenced my work.

Major influences in Geddes' work have been Antoni Tapies, Robert Rauschenberg, Jackson Pollock, Lee Krasner and Cy Twombly.
